Diversity Executive magazine recently picked up a Trailblazer Award from the National Association of African-Americans in Human Resources in Washington, D.C. It is a tremendous honor, especially since it was an unsolicited acknowledgement of the magazine.

I must confess I basked in the accolades and appreciation – especially for my column; people love to read about my nephew! – but more important were the compliments that specifically targeted the messages we send and our efforts to tackle the strategic business challenges that impact minorities and their organizations.
SHRM’s Diversity Conference is also this week in D.C. Robert L. Johnson kicked off the event with a keynote discussing the lack of opportunities for minorities in corporate America and how efforts to provide more opportunities can provide significant shareholder value. He cited himself as example – from a BET investor’s faith in him to his work now partnering with minorities in business ventures through his company The RLJ Cos.
I’m looking forward to what comes next! Stay tuned.
