Sidley Austin LLP won the Most Innovative Gender Diversity Initiative (Law Firm) Award at the first Chambers USA Women in Law Awards, held Feb. 2 in New York. The Awards honored outstanding female legal stars and the law firms that have made a contribution to gender diversity awareness and to the mentoring of women lawyers.

Four Sidley partners also were shortlisted for awards, which reflected women’s achievements in their chosen practice areas.

The nominated Sidley partners were: Sara B. Brody — Litigator of the Year; Connie M. Friesen — Regulatory Lawyer of the Year; Cathy M. Kaplan — Finance Lawyer of the Year; and Allison J. Satyr — Up and Coming Finance Lawyer of the Year.

“Sidley is very proud to support this initiative, and we are honored to be recognized for our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal community,” said Thomas A. Cole, chairman of Sidley’s Executive Committee.

Sidley is one of three law firms to receive the Catalyst Award, an honor given by the research and advisory organization, which is dedicated to expanding opportunities for women and business.

Sidley Austin LLP is a full-service law firm, with approximately 1,700 lawyers practicing in 17 U.S. and international cities, including Beijing, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
